: Laurel Adcock :

Laurel E. Adcock's practice includes complex litigation and counseling on environmental, employment and administrative law matters. Before joining SmithTrager, Ms. Adcock worked for a premier boutique law firm in Orange County.
Ms. Adcock received her J.D. from Northwestern University Law School. While attending law school, she served as a court appointed mediator in Cook County Superior Court. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Criminology, Law and Society. She also holds a certificate in advanced human resources management from the College of Notre Dame.
Ms. Adcock was recently elected to serve a 3 year term (2011-2014) as a board member for the Industrial Environmental Coalition of Orange County (IECOC).
Representative Matters
- Served as lead counsel or key member of trial team in numerous cases, including massive multi-party complex contamination and nuisance cases as well as business, real estate and employment disputes.
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of major national banking institution in multiple cases involving alleged violations of ERISA and FEHA as well as claims for breach of contract, unfair competition, defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
- Prepared successful appeal of Clean Up and Abatement Order issued by the Regional Water Quality Control Board for national chemical company.
- Advised major oil company client on compliance with air quality rules and regulations in remediation of contaminated property.
- Counseled various clients on employment litigation avoidance, including compliance with wage and hour laws, development of personnel policies and structuring contracts.
- Conducted training and educational programs for human resources representatives, managers and supervisors on discharging and disciplining employees.
