Peter Sahin is Of Counsel to SmithTrager LLP. His practice includes corporate and business transactions, estates , trusts and real estate matters. Mr. Sahin has extensive experience in wealth succession planning, drafting and negotiating commercial leases and purchase agreements, strategic counseling on asset protection and litigation avoidance as well as business litigation.
Mr. Sahin received his undergraduate degree from University of California, Los Angeles and later received his J.D. summa cum laude on a full Deans Merit Scholarship from Whittier Law School. While in law school, Mr. Sahin served as an extern for Judge Theodor C. Albert in Federal Bankruptcy Court for the Central District. After graduation, Mr. Sahin served as staff counsel for the nation's largest privately owned insurance company and was an associate at a premier Orange County business law firm.
Representative Matters
- Advised a major trust company on environmental liabilities of trustees and beneficiaries following irrevocable trust inheritance of allegedly contaminated property.
- Served as general counsel to telecom facilities and infrastructure engineering company, including company start up and acquisition by national technology company.
- Counseled business owners and real estate investors on estate and wealth succession planning, including lifetime gifting strategies.
- Negotiated and drafted numerous commercial retail purchase and sale, broker, and lease agreements.
- Counseled landlord on collection and creditor rights in Bankruptcy court.
- Served as lead counsel on behalf of Fashion Island retail tenant in arbitration case involving alleged construction defect and breach of lease agreement.
- Obtained summary judgment on behalf of publicly traded company in multi-party case alleging securities violations.
- Represented plaintiff, a non-profit corporation, in Bankruptcy adversary proceedings, alleging Public Works breach of contract claims against City of Los Angeles.
