: Summer Nastich :

Summer L. Nastich specializes in environmental law and litigation, remediation projects, regulatory issues, and disputes involving environmental services. She has extensive experience with CERCLA, RCRA, CEQA and state common law claims involving soil and ground water contamination.

Ms. Nastich holds B.S. degrees in Oceanography, Biology and Zoology as well as an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. She graduated cum laude from Boston University Law School.

Ms. Nastich is experienced in reviewing analytical data and has worked in the laboratory and in the field on both marine and freshwater projects. She has hands-on experience working as a volunteer with Engineers for a Sustainable World. She spent significant field time sampling and analyzing water in wells, springs, and in-home storage containers as part of a study assessing water quality and availability in rural communities in Mexico.

Representative Matters

  • Perform extensive legal and factual research, draft legal memoranda and correspondence to clients, agencies, and opposing counsel.
  • Draft agency appeals and counsel clients regarding same.
  • Manage and engage in all aspects of trial practice including law and motion practice, all aspects of discovery, drafting pleadings, pre trial conferences, settlement negotiations, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings including arbitration and mediation.
  • Assist in preparing biannual updates for Chapters 3 (Superfund Litigation), 4 (Proposition 65 Litigation), 6 (Citizen Suits), 10 (Bankruptcy Issues), and 11 (Environmental Terms) of Westlaw's practice treatise, California Civil Practice: Environmental Litigation

Laboratory and Field Work Experience

  • Sampled and analyzed water in wells, springs, and in-home storage containers as part of a study assessing water quality and water availability in rural communities in Baja California Sur (with Engineers for a Sustainable World).
  • Coordinated analytical testing with clients and technicians, reviewed reports, received and distributed samples for analysis, conducted field sampling and laboratory analysis (with Chevron Environmental Laboratory).
  • Performed water quality measurements, bioassays, statistical analysis of results, coordinated testing with clients, maintained lab and stock cultures (with MEC Analytical Systems, Inc.).
  • Conducted site monitoring as well as water, soil, and marine sediment sampling (with MEC Analytical Systems, Inc.).
